he Turritopsis jellyfish, when hurt, sick, or starving, can transform its fully grown cells back into an earlier, more flexible form, a process scientists call transdifferentiation. Those transformed cells let it revert to a tiny, plant-like stage called a polyp, essentially restarting its whole life cycle from the very beginning instead of dying. Scientists are still studying exactly how this remarkable reset works, hoping it might one day offer clues about aging and cell repair in other animals too.
